Paint Mines: Author Photos

A couple of weeks ago Jen Gillham, a published author and friend of mine, came to Colorado looking for adventure and some new photos to use for a book series that she is working on. She wanted a unique location, so we decided to do a session in the Paint Mines Interpretive Park.

If you haven't been here, the rock formations are gorgeous! It's just a short walk from the parking lot down to the park, but watch out for cacti! If you go in the middle of the day, it'll be blindingly bright and you won't get to see as much of the color. Make sure to wander around a bit to find a spot that you like, but don't climb on the formations (signs are posted). The day we went, the wind was blowing like crazy, which can make or break a photo session. Fortunately, Jen has long, beautiful hair and it worked in our favor. Don't you think?

You're welcome Jen. Those prickly little guys are sneaky!

Thanks for warning me not to touch the flower (cactus in disguise!) and helping me feel beautiful during this photo shoot.
